Pat was born at Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Educated in Elgin schools, Pat spent two years in the U.S. Army before joining the Elgin Fire Department as a firefighter. Years of public service experience and training included completing the first paramedic training class and being licensed in the State of Illinois.
Promoted to Lieutenant in the Elgin Fire Department in 1972, Pat enjoyed the excitement of serving the community yet envisioned becoming an entrepreneur.
In June 1977, Pat Crawford founded Elgin Medi-Transport, Inc. Collaborating with medical professionals and organizations, Pat has mentored and trained staff while sustaining a viable business for more than 40 years in Elgin, Illinois.
Service to the industry and community are a natural part of Pat’s personality and character. He has served on the board of directors for the Illinois State Ambulance Association and belongs to the American Ambulance Association, has been active on the Sherman Health Foundation Board, and has been a member of both the Lions Club and Breakfast Rotary Club in Elgin. Pat has been recognized by Business Connector Magazine and has contributed countless hours as a volunteer to the community.
Pat and his wife Maria live in the Elgin area. He has five daughters and three grandchildren.
